Construction Updates from Disney’s Polynesian Resort

The refurbishment news from Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort just keeps coming!

In addition to the ongoing refurbishment of the hotel lobby – including the removal of the famous yet outdated waterfall – the second floor of the hotel is also being renovated. And, the quick service dining location, Captain Cook’s, is also currently closed.

Outside, the main feature pool is closing later this summer for a complete overhaul that includes the addition of a kids’ water play area and an enlarged pool deck for guests.

The pool will also include a new dining location, the Pineapple Lanai Kiosk, where guests can find Dole Whip.

But perhaps the biggest news comes from out on the Seven Seas Lagoon where 2o over-the-water bungalows are currently being built for the Disney Vacation Club.

The bungalows are an exciting addition to the Polynesian, and construction on the DVC section of the resort is scheduled to be completed in 2015.

Are you looking forward to staying in one of the over-the-lagoon bungalows when they open? Leave us a comment and let us know what you think.

  1. I don’t think the Polynesian bldgs on the water are very attractive. I hope they can have them better match the other bldgs. at the resort. I don’t think they are appealing to the setting at all and would not want to stay in one.
