Wilderness Lodge Guests Receiving Letters Regarding Upcoming Construction Project

Guests who have reservations this fall at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge have started receiving letters from the resort’s general manager informing them of the upcoming construction project.

In part, the letter states that “refurbishment work will be taking place at our Resort during your visit. In preparation for your upcoming stay please note the details of that work below:

  • Upon your arrival you will notice construction work in various areas as we enhance our Resort. Please be aware that certain pathways, including the nature trail, will be unavailable. Noise may be overheard while this work is being completed, but rest assured, construction will not begin until after 9 a.m.
  • Hidden Springs Pool, the leisure pool at The Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, is scheduled to close for enhancement in late October along with the beach, marina, and playground. During this time our recently-renovated Silver Creek Springs Pool featuring a 67-foot water slide and play area for kids will remain open for your use.”

The letter also states that the resort will host a nightly movie indoors and that bike rents will be available near the jogging trail. Additional recreation activities including boat rental and Movies Under the Stars will be available at Disney’s Contemporary Resort and Disney’s Fort Wilderness.

Guests who booked through Walt Disney World Resort can call 407-827-2595 with questions, while Disney Vacation Club guests can call DVC member services at 407-566-3800.

Are you staying at Wilderness Lodge during the construction? Let us know in the comments.

  1. We were considering staying here when we visit during the first week of December. We’ve heard that the Lodge is beautiful for Christmas and have held off staying there on past vacations so that we could save it for the holiday season. Do you think the construction will impact our experience, especially as a first timer to the resort? We are always excited to go back to AKL and have never stayed there during the Holidays. Do you think its a better idea to stick with AKL and save the Wilderness Lodge for another time? Perhaps its nit picky of me to even worry about it!

    • Hi Kallie! I’m actually staying at the WL the week of Thanksgiving this year and I spoke with Disney Guest Services a couple weeks ago about my concerns. It sounds like right now the majority of the construction will be at the DVC Villas (as they are refurbishing the pool). The main lodge won’t see much impact other than some construction noise, but that will only be between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. each day. The main pool at the WL will not be affected in a negative manner. You can also request to say on the north side of the resort, which will put you farther away from the construction site. I think it is a personal preference – we decided to stick with WL because we love the resort, we want to see it decorated for the holidays, and we won’t be in our rooms enough for the noise to bother us.

      • Thanks so much Trac, I appreciate the help! We aren’t in the rooms much either so I’m happy to keep WL in the running!
