The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort is getting ready to kick off its annual Holiday Happenings event in December.
The special holiday celebration features Santa and Mrs. Claus in their warm-weather gear as they vacation in Santa’s tiki hut featuring palm trees, flamingos, and reindeer.
Each night during the Holiday Happenings, the hotel causeway will be transformed by dancing lights in the palm trees, and on select nights guests will be entertained by carolers on the causeway and in the hotel lobby. Also on select nights, guests can join Mrs. Claus in the Dolphin lobby for the lighting of the hotel’s 45-foot tall Christmas tree.
The resort decorations will feature a life-size chocolate Santa in the ‘Santa Scene’ in the lobby of the Swan. The 1,200 pound sculpture is created by the hotel’s executive pastry chef Laurent Branlard and will be joined by a chocolate Christmas tree, chocolate fireplace, and a chocolate toy train. The display will also feature a 7-foot tall, 400 pound chocolate nutcracker.
On Christmas Eve, parents can hire a costumed elf to deliver milk, cookies, a plush toy, and a storybook to the room. The elves will read the kids a bedtime story and tuck them in before Santa arrives. This special tuck-in service is $55 per child and $15 for each additional child. And even though the resort has no chimneys the Swan and Dolphin has it all figured out – the kids can hang a magical key on their guestroom door, helping Santa find his way.
