Disney’s Polynesian Resort will soon return to its original name – Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and with the new/old name comes some other changes.

In June a new children’s activity center, Club Disney, is scheduled to open in the resort. This new center will give kids a chance to play dress up, make crafts, and participate in storytelling experiences under the watchful eyes of Disney cast members.

Disney Imagineers found inspiration from classic Disney Little Golden Books including Alice in Wonderland, Pinocchio, and Lady and the Tramp when they designed the center.

Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto will open at Disney’s Polynesian Village in 2015, while later this year the Pineapple Lanai kiosk will open later this year. Guests will find Dole Whip at the kiosk.

One other update at the resort is happening at the Nanea Volcano pool which is being expanded to include a new aquatic playground, a new hot tub, and a larger deck.

“In size and scope the renovation and expansion of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is a significant investment in the guest experience at Walt Disney World Resort,” said Tom Wolber, senior vice president of resort operations and transportation operations for Walt Disney World Resort. “Once completed, the iconic resort hotel will be completely re-imagined with a level of detail as only Disney can deliver.”
