Our friends at Disney Food Blog broke the news earlier this week that the popular Territory Lounge (one of our favorite spots for a nightcap!) is now serving coffee each day from 7-11 a.m. Guests can stop in for iced coffee, espresso, lattes, specialty beverages, and pastries every morning. This summer, Disney Vacation Club members have a chance to try two new guest experiences before the general public. The ‘Family Culinary Adventure’ gives guests a chance to prepare a meal from scratch and learn some “tricks of the trade” from Disney chefs. The experience is available on June 29 and 30 starting at 5 p.m. and the sessions are three and a half hours long. Guests ages 9 and older can participate and the price is $125 for guests age 9-12 and $175 for guests ages 13 and older. Reservations open Monday, June 22 for this experience. Disney’s Wilderness Lodge is adding 26 waterfront bungalows as part of a Disney Vacation Club expansion at the resort. Similar to the over-the-water bungalows at Disney’s Polynesian Villas and Bungalows, the new bungalows will be built on the shores of Bay Lake and will be on the sides of the resort. While guests at the Polynesian Village Resort were upset about the loss of water views due to the bungalows there, some reports are saying that the impact at the Wilderness Lodge will be less. Construction is continuing on the new hotels at Flamingo Crossing, the new area located about half a mile from Walt Disney World Resort. This area is being marketed to guests on a budget and sports teams participating in events at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. The first two hotels – SpringHill Suites by Marriott and TownePlace Suites by Marriott were “topped off” with the final structural beams last week. We have exciting news from the world of Disney character meals – Chef Mickey’s at Disney’s Contemporary Resort will start serving brunch as of May 31! Reservations for this new meal offering – normally you can only eat breakfast and dinner at Chef Mickey’s – open on May 22. There’s no word yet as to whether this is a permanent menu change or just something for the busy summer months.
