Disney Bringing ‘Value-Oriented’ Hotels to Flamingo Crossings Area in Orlando

In an area located just outside the west entrance to the Walt Disney World Resort, Disney is developing a new lodging and retail location called Flamingo Crossings.

Back in 2007 Disney first announced plans to develop the area with retail, dining, and lodging – even going as far as holding a press conference complete with artist renderings of the project. Then, the economy crashed in 2008 and the project never went forward.

Now it is being reported that Disney is restarting the project with two hotels – Springhill Suites by Marriot and Towneplace Suites by Marriot. The two hotels will be built on 10 acres of the property within Flamingo Crossings.

Springhill Suites is an all-suite hotel and Towneplace Suites is an extended-stay hotel.

Disney is calling the two hotels “value-oriented” locations and says Flamingo Crossings is a “Disney master-planned” area.

There is no word on when the hotels will be completed.
