Back in August we wrote about the construction taking place at the Grand Floridian Resort and the closing of the spa for 18 months. There was much speculation that the Grand Floridian would be adding on for some rooms to become part of the Disney Vacation Club.
Disney has now confirmed that the Grand Floridian will become a new Disney Vacation Club Destination.
This new expansion will add more than 147 additional rooms to the Grand Floridian property. The DVC units will be separate from the hotel and will for Disney Vacation Club members only. There will also be a new children’s aquatic play area as part of the expansion.
This latest DVC property will be the twelfth vacation ownership location for Disney, which currently has inventory available at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa, Contemporary Resort’s Bay Lake Tower and Aulani Resort and Spa, located in Hawaii.
The Grand Floridian Disney Vacation Club units are expected to open in late 2013.
