We had the chance to take some more photos of the ongoing construction of the over-the-water villas at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and from the looks of it, things are progressing nicely!
When the construction project is completed there will be 20 DVC bungalow villas on the shores of the Seven Seas Lagoon. The bungalows should give guests the feeling of staying in an over-the-ocean bungalow in the South Pacific.
The construction of the DVC villas is expected to be completed in 2015.
Meanwhile, construction also continues in other areas of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and guests will find constructions walls in various locations around the resort. Construction is ongoing in the hotel lobby and other interior locations. Additionally the Nanea Volcano Pool is closing for a lengthy refurbishment.
Are you excited about the changes happening at Disney’s Polynesian Village? Leave us a comment and let us know.
Hi, Traci. We are looking at booking our first family Disney trip and staying at the Polynesian. The construction has us concerned that it may be a big downer on our trip. Would you recommend staying at the Polynesian vs. The Contemporary or The Grand Floridian? Thank You!
Hi Andy! My thoughts on the construction are this: the only area that would be of real concern to me is the main feature pool as that is closed for refurbishment and guests are being allowed to use the pool at the Grand Floridian. I have a friend who recently stayed at the Poly and she said the construction wasn’t much of a deterrence. The other areas under construction are behind walls which while they may be a minor distraction it won’t affect the actual say in your hotel room. That being said this IS your first family trip to WDW and it should be as magical as possible, so maybe consider the GF or the Contemporary this time and book at the Poly for your next trip once the construction is completed. Hope you have a great vacation!
