It’s that time of year again – time for the gingerbread displays to go up at select Walt Disney World Resort hotels!
Our friends at the Disney Food Blog recently reported on the 2014 gingerbread display at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. The display was inspired by Frozen (of course!) and features Mary Blair-inspired figures of Anna, Elsa, Olaf, Sven, and Kristoff. Stop by the DFB and check out all the amazing photos of the display and the yummy treats you can buy!
Other hotels with gingerbread displays in the works include the BoardWalk Inn, Disney’s Beach Club, Disney’s Yacht Club, and Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa.
This year’s BoardWalk Inn display is inspired by the Jersey Shore and will be a gingerbread stand in the style of the old boardwalk concession stands. Look for Minnie and Mickey Mouse gingerbread heads around the display.
Over at the Beach Club the life-size gingerbread carousel is back again this year. Guests can purchase a kit to create their own smaller, take-home version of the carousel. The Yacht Club lobby will feature a miniature train traveling through sugar mountains.
And the Grand Floridian will once again feature the full-size gingerbread house that doubles as a bake shop. Disney chefs spend 400 hours baking the gingerbread and 160 hours decorating the house. The gingerbread house is 16 feet high and 17 feet wide with 40 window panes and 80 square feet of retail space.
The Grand Floridian gingerbread house is scheduled to open on November 21.
