Captain Cook’s Reopens at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

Today we have more exciting news from Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort! Our friends at the Disney Food Blog are reporting that the hotel’s popular quick service location – Captain Cook’s – has reopened!

The quick service location closed back in April of this year for a refurbishment, but now that it’s open there are a few noticeable changes and updates to the restaurant.

It seems that most of the changes made during the refurbishment were “cosmetic” – such as a darker color palette for the interior, vintage travel posters on the walls, and new light fixtures. The palm tree ceiling fans remain, perhaps as a nod to the former decor.

Guests may remember that in the “old days” you would place your order using touchscreen kiosks, but in the new Captain Cook’s you place your order with a real person!

One thing guests will notice that has not returned to Captain Cook’s is the Dole Whip machine. But never fear, once the Nanea Volcano Pool refurbishment is completed you’ll be able to curb your Dole Whip craving at the all-new Pineapple Lanai.

The menu has also been updated a bit – the “Grown Up Grilled Cheese” has been removed but new items include Fish Tacos, a Lobster Roll, and Coconut Curry Meatballs. Breakfast favorite Tonga Toast is still on the menu.

Be sure to visit the Disney Food Blog for a review and photos of some of the new menu items.
