News! Photos from the Updated Lobby at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

After many months of construction and anticipation, the lobby at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Great Ceremonial House has reopened. And it’s stunning!

We had a chance to visit the resort recently and take a lot of photos of the updated lobby. The first thing you’ll notice is that the huge waterfall that was the centerpiece of the lobby is gone. There’s still a small waterfall in the middle, but the entire lobby has been opened up.

Guests will find ample seating areas throughout the lobby that features couches, chairs, and tables. The lobby also seems much brighter than it was before.

When you’re visiting Disney’s Polynesian Village you’ll want to look up when you’re in the lobby to get a glimpse of the incredible lighting feature that hangs above. The lights are gorgeous and are a wonderful addition to the new lobby decor. Here’s a view of the lights from the second level of the hotel.

Maybe it’s just me, but the bigger lights remind me of glass fishing floats. I’m just guessing here, but I bet that’s what they’re supposed to remind people of – just to keep with the Polynesian theme.

We have many more photos of the new lobby and we’ll be sharing them over the next few weeks!

What do you think of the new lobby at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort? Let us know in the comments.

  1. The lobby is pretty. Personally, I loved the atrium feel with the waterfalls and vegetation. It had a tropical, Hawaiian feel to it that the new lobby, I think lacks. I am a bit disappointed but I guess we all have to move on!

    • Melanie – As much as I like the new look of the lobby I’m going to miss that distinct ‘smell’ that the waterfall gave to the old lobby. 🙂

    • I am only going by the photos but my first reaction is one of disappointment. The lush tropical look and feel was wonderful. The water falls and orchids special. Good example of not everything new is better!

  2. That’s exactly what I thought, glass fishing floats. Love them. I hope they add more plants or something to new water feature. It just looks like a lava rock pile. I know some sort of Tiki will be going on top when it’s finished, but still needs something more? I also hope they bring back the Boutiki Tiki statue!

    • I can’t wait to see what else they add to the lobby.
